Exponent System Design: an honest review and an alternative
The short answer
Exponent is now called Aced, and tryexponent.com sends you to aced.io. It is a membership for many interview loops, from software engineering and system design to product management and data science. Its System Design Interviews course lists 72 lessons and 39 videos in 11 modules, about 18 hours, with 40+ question breakdowns, 9 reusable architectural patterns and full mock interview videos. On 8 November 2026 it cost $12 a month on yearly billing or $79 month to month for the Pro membership, in US prices. It suits candidates who learn by watching people answer questions, want to practise with real peers, or are preparing for more than one kind of interview loop. Ours is the better pick if you want one long course from the basics up, paid once (770 lessons, ₹1,111 once in India or $25 once elsewhere); Aced (formerly Exponent) is the better pick in the cases listed below, and we say which.
Our course, the System Design Masterclass: 770 lessons, about 287 hours, ₹1,111 once in India or $25 elsewhere, lifetime access.

Where Aced (formerly Exponent) is stronger
- It is built around video. You can watch 39 videos in the system design course, including full mock interviews, and the pricing page says the membership has more than 350 hours of video answers.
- Pro includes unlimited peer mock interviews with other members, so you practise out loud with real people. We offer an AI mock interviewer and paid live one-to-one mocks, but no free practice with other members.
- One membership covers many roles: software engineering, product management, engineering management, data science, ML and more.
- It has a members' Discord community, priority job referrals, and paid coaching you can add to the membership.
Pick Aced if you learn best by watching people answer, want peer mock interviews, or are preparing for a product, management or data loop as well.
When ours is the better pick
- You want to pay once and keep it, with no membership that renews.
- You want much more depth on system design itself: ours is a long, ordered course from the basics to distributed systems and reliability.
- You prefer to read at your own pace, with an AI tutor beside every lesson that answers from the lesson you are on.
Where ours falls short
- It has no videos. Every lesson is written.
- The self-paced course has no human coach, no mock interviews and no certificate.
- It is a smaller, newer site, online since April 2026.
